Sean
Cochran, one of the most recognized golf fitness instructors
in the world today. He travels the PGA Tour regularly working
with PGA Professionals, most notably two-time Masters and
PGA Champion Phil Mickelson. He has been involved in the production
of numerous golf fitness videos and authored books including;
Stronger Arms and Upper Body, Complete Conditioning for Martial
Arts, Your Body & Your Swing Golf Fitness, and One-up
Advanced Golf Fitness. He has also authored numerous articles
with publication credits including Golf Digest, Sports Illustrated
and Golf Magazine.
A Chicago native, Sean played competitive sports
at an early age, excelling through dedication and practice.
He was a member of conference championship teams in hockey,
football, and earned all conference honors in baseball.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of San Diego where he also participated in rugby and began
his studies in the Korean martial art of Tae Kwon Do. Sean
received his first degree black belt the year of his graduation.
Post graduation Sean began working with Bio-Kinetics,
founded by former major league pitcher Dr. Tom House. Sean
served as strength and conditioning coach to numerous high
school, college and professional athletes. He co-authored
his first book Stronger Arms and Upper Body in 1999.
Sean accepted the position as strength and conditioning
coach with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1999. One year later
Sean accepted a similar position with his adopted hometown
of San Diego for the Padres. During his tenure with the
Padres he authored two additional books, Complete Conditioning
for Martial Arts (2001) and Fit to Hit (2002). Sean also
began speaking at national seminars on a host of athletic-related
topics.
Sean transitioned from baseball to professional
golf in late 2002, when he accepted the position of personal
strength and conditioning coach for Phil Mickelson. Since
then Sean has traveled the world developing golf specific
strength training programs for amateurs and professionals
alike. Sean has had the opportunity to work with the likes
of LPGA Champion Hee Won Han, Jordan Cox (4th ranked junior
in the U.S.), US Open Champion Cory Pavin, 2003 PGA Champion
Shaun Micheel, world renown golf instructor Rick Smith,
short game expert Dave Pelz, Chicago Cubs pitcher Mark Prior,
and San Diego Padres pitcher Trevor Hoffman
Sean’s
accreditations include National Strength and Conditioning
Association (1997), United States Weightlifting Federation
(1998), American Sports Medicine Institute (1996), and the
National Academy of Sports Medicine (2001, 2004).
Sean continues to speak on a national level
and continuously strives to advance his professional credentials.
Having received his third degree black belt in Tae Kwon
Do, Sean remains very active in the martial arts field and
in his free time enjoys golf and surfing. He currently resides
in Del Mar, California.
